Funders Are Looking For YOU: Why "Findable" and "Fundable" is the Nonprofit Superpower of the Future
Dec 09, 2025If you’ve ever felt like the biggest hurdle in nonprofit fundraising is getting noticed, you’re not wrong, but the real truth may surprise you.
Funders are looking. And they are actively searching for projects to support.
Yes, that’s correct.
One of the most powerful lessons I learned recently, both from a brilliant course on LinkedIn and from a conversation with a research analyst at a family foundation, is that high net worth donors and philanthropic advisors aren’t waiting around for a pitch deck. They’re browsing. They’re vetting. They’re looking for worthy causes to fund.
Wow – let that sink in.
Somewhere right now, there is a funder scanning the globe for a project just like yours.
So why haven’t they found you yet?
This is the question every nonprofit leader should be asking themselves.
3 Ways to Get Found by Funders
1. Polish your online presence
Your company LinkedIn page and website should clearly reflect your mission, programs and impact. Think of them as your digital storefront. Keep them updated – consider changing your banner on LinkedIn if you embark on a new project or have a big campaign taking place. Your personal LinkedIn page should align with both to reflect your passion for the organization. Don’t underestimate the importance of following foundations and connecting wherever possible.
2. Tell your story consistently
Share real updates. Post impact images and videos. Use your voice and your platform to show the work in action. A heartfelt simple video from you periodically can be a powerful catalyst for garnering attention.
3. Stay searchable
Use keywords and hashtags that funders might be using in their searches. Make it easy for the right people to find you.
You don't always have to chase the money.
Sometimes, the money is already looking for you. Make sure you're ready to be found.
